Rio and Haley

Group hug

Rio and Skyler

Rio is really a people dog…or he thinks he’s a people…or he thinks we are dogs. Anyway, he has bonded with us so much that he wants to be with us every minute of the day. Of course, we put him outside to get fresh air and exercise, but most of the time he is out there we find that he is laying down under the window of the room that he hears us in.

When he is in the house he wants to be in the room we are in, which causes him some consternation when Jay and I are in different rooms. He will go from room to room dividing his time as equally as he can between us. And where he is happiest, is laying on one of our feet. It seems that he has a need to be touching the ones he loves.

I can hear you say “aaaawwww” and it does sound sweet, until you trip over him because you didn’t know he followed you into the room and was right behind you when you backed up. Or, when you get up from the couch and go into the kitchen to do something and come back and he is laying on the floor right in front of your place on the couch, waiting for you to return so he can be close to you. And you try to push him out of your way and he just goes limp until you give up and just sit down and put your feet on him like he is an ottoman.

When I look down at him on the floor, under my feet, his big golden eyes look up at me and he looks very contented. He seems to be saying, “This is the life,” or as we would say, “It’s a dog’s life,” which to him means the same thing. So whether he thinks he’s a people, or we are dogs, it doesn’t really matter. I think he is just happy that he was adopted.

By the way, if you want a great animal to adopted, talk to Patty at H.A.L.T. Just click on this link and go to their web site.

Next, find out how Rio takes to water…Rio and Water

This is one of my FAVORITE “MyDogRio” post that Karen has done. One of her best writing skills is putting a story together that builds to give you a GREAT punchline!!!

Love the pics & I love the way you put into words all the same things Arianne does. Since she was a small pup, (that we often couldn’t see) she has laid under our feet, getting stepped on, tripped over and yes sometimes even yelled at (its hard not to yell when you think you’re going down). She still does it and with a sense of pride, to lay at our feet. She has actully found a solution to us being in different rooms. She lays in the hallway right where she is able to see all rooms. Then gets up to follow the first one that roams the house. Smart dog.

LOVE IT!!

I love the pics, and I miss Rio a lot~! from Haley
